Because of this deceptive advertising I have filed a formal complaint with the CA DMV, which licenses all dealers in CA and investigates vehicle-related fraud. Also, be aware that "Certified" through Shift is not the same as the "Certified" via a manufacturer dealer like Toyota (which a Shift employee finally admitted on the phone). (Was surprised to learn my gasoline-only car has good hybrid components!) Also, while I was signing paperwork, I realized I was signing to say I had received a copy of the Carfax report I had to look up and say "So, are you gonna give me this Carfax report that you want me to acknowledge I've received?" Be careful with your documentation with them because they want to do everything digitally and on their website, which can be handy, but if you haven't saved pdfs or printed hard copies, website info can be taken down or changed. Website promises vehicles are "Certified" which requires a copy of the inspection report be given to buyer after many emails during my 7-day/200mi return window, they first denied they had a report, then gave me the work order for work they performed on the car (which is helpful, but not a comprehensive report), gave me a list of things they inspect (still not a report), and after the 7 days had expired and I talked to a representative on the phone (whose manager still hasn't called me back) they trumped up an inspection report that had no inspection date and marked items as "good" that aren't even included on the vehicle.
